Ajuga - Chocolate Chip
The Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip’, Ajuga x 'Chocolate Chip', is a useful ground cover with short spikes of blue flowers. This Ajuga has unusually narrow foliage of dark green, overlaid with chocolate-brown, forming a very low clump. It is most noted for its dwarf habit and its chocolate foliage. The flowers appear in spring and are 4” in height with a plant width of 12-18”. It is not as invasive as most other Ajuga and best-planted 6-9” apart for a quick cover. Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chips’ will do best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun. It prefers moist soil with a good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry areas. Avoid soggy conditions. Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip’ looks great in rock gardens and in front of borders and in containers. Butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to Ajuga, not to mention being deer resistant and a low allergen. Geranium - Bertie Crug The Geranium 'Bertie Crug' is a lovely, easy to grow little perennial Geranium with chocolate leaves and pink flowers. Blooms all summer and creates a delightful carpet of color. super hardy geranium noted for it's beautiful foliage that is deep green with bronze highlights, turning a wonderful cherry red with cool fall weather. This Geranium, Bertie Crug, is only 4" tall and is a spreader (though not viciously so - only to a couple of feet in width). It bears delightful cheery pink flowers heavily in spring and sporadically throughout the growing season. It may bloom heavily again in fall if the foliage is sheared after the first bloom.
