Aster - Sapphire
The Aster ‘Saphire’, 'Aster x dumosus', a Proven Winners selection, has large, fluffy, lilac blue flowers with yellow centers blooming August through September. With its perfectly clean, compact, dark green, disease resistant and rust free foliage, this plant has a height of 12-15” and a plant spread of 24”. Aster ‘Saphire’ does require full sun, but can take some afternoon shade. Place in a moderate soil range with good drainage that does not become extremely dry during the summer. Aster ‘Saphire’ makes an excellent container plant or in front of the garden feature and looks great with ornamental grasses. ‘Saphire’ is attractive to bees, butterflies and birds and looks beautiful all season long. Iris - Batik The Iris Batik, Iris x germanica 'Batik' has stripes and splashes of white on dark purple flowers. With a velvety texture and beautiful sword-shaped foliage, it has a plant height of 24”. Batik blooms in spring and is an easily grown Iris. It prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun, but will tolerate some afternoon shade. This Iris needs plenty of water throughout the season to continue to looks its best. Batik will make a great addition around pools, ponds and water gardens, and for mass plantings. It can also be used in difficult banks and preventing erosion. They also make magnificent cut flowers and are resistant to deer. |
