The Heuchera 'Strawberry Swirl, Heuchera x 'Strawberry Swirl', also known as Coral Bells, Alumroot and Crimson Bells, have ruffled green leaves overlaid with silver veining. They are a lovely background for the gorgeous strawberry pink flowers. What sets this plant off from the others is the very tall (30") stalks of coral-pink blooms which give off a mild fruit aroma. Strawberry Swirls will attract both Hummingbirds and bees. Hollyhock - Nigra The Nigra Hollyhock, 'Alcea rosea', has large single, very dark maroon to almost black flowers. (The darkest flower in this family). The Hollyhock family is made up of a rather large group that exhibits tall stature (4-6') and is biennial in nature. Although they are short lived, they reseed themselves. The large blooms of 'Chater's Nigra Hollyhock' flower in the summer months. Alcea is a wonderful plant near the back of the border, working great along walls or fences. They are best planted in full sun in a well-drained area.
