Cote d' Azur Pinks

The Cote d'Azur Pinks, 'Saponaria ocymoides', is one of the most beautiful, useful and low care, hardy perennials. Deep pink and unscented flowers make an excellent ground cover, edging or rock-garden plant. Its tiny semi- evergreen foliage is almost totally covered with flowers in June. Dense, compact, with a spreading and trailing habit which is ideal for banks, terraces or low walls. Thrives anywhere. The bulbs are best planted in autumn while they are still plump. Plant them 2-3 times their own depth and at the equivalent spacing between bulbs. They enjoy well-drained soil in full sun, with shade at the base. Alternatively they can be planted in deep containers, using loam-based compost. ... find out more
