Daisy - African Mix
The Daisy African Cape Marigold, 'Dimorphotheca aurantiaca', should be called "Goddess of the Sun" for flowers that reflect the beauty and the burning color of the sun. The 1 1/2 inch wide flowers close at night, in the shade, and during cloud cover. The flowers are colored in shades of orange and yellow. Cape Marigolds bloom in summer and fall in cool climates, and late winter and early spring in warm climates. The African Cape Marigold Daisy prefers full sun. They do best in light, well drained, and dry soils. Do not over water. In warm dry climates, seed in the fall and in cooler climates, and plant seed after last frost. This plant is excellent for naturalized areas and as ground cover for large areas. It is also great for parking strips, borders, large pots and tubs. ... find out more
Leek The Leek, 'Allium Ampeloprasum Porrum', has been a staple in European kitchens for centuries. This sweet, mild onion relative won't overpower other flavors in a dish. The Leek is under used and over priced in the U. S. The sweet, mild onion flavor of leeks makes them a versatile addition to many recipes. Leeks can be used as key ingredients in foods or blended without overpowering drained soil. Water the planting bed regularly because uneven moisture will affect taste and texture. Harvest Leeks when about 1 inch in diameter, firm and not too bulbous at the base. |
