Grass - Denver Botanic Garden Brome

The Grass 'Denver Botanic Garden Brome', Brachypodium sylvaticum, is a mounded ornamental grass. It is beautiful with Hosta and Ferns. The soft downy foliage and slender oat-like flowers need good drainage to look their best. Ornamental Grasses are gaining in popularity all over the U. S. due to their undemanding nature and long lasting, year round beauty. There is nothing that adds such interesting forms, textures and movement to a garden, than with this diverse plant group. They can be planted along banks of ponds, incorporated into perennial gardens, grouped together, utilized as a ground cover along walkways, paths or on steep banks. Mullein - Snow Maiden The Verbascum Snow Maiden, 'Verbascum hybridum', also known as Mullein, has masses of pure white flowers with yellow stamens. The stalks arise off of fuzzy gray-green leaves, which add contrast to the flower color. ‘Snow Maiden’ has a plant height of 3-4’ and a plant spread of 1-2’ and blooms from late spring into summer. Removing spent flowers to encourage additional bloom time. Verbascum will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but must have good drainage or it could be fatal. ‘Snow Maiden’ can be planted in rocky slopes to add color, as a border plant or in cottage gardens.
