Hollyhock - Chaters Mix
The Hollyhock 'Chater's Mix', Alcea rosea, has a wide array of flower colors including pink, red and yellow. The Hollyhock family is made up of a rather large group that exhibits tall stature (4-6') and being biennial in nature. Although Hollyhocks are short lived, they reseed themselves. The large blooms of 'Chater's Mix Hollyhock' flower in the summer months. Alcea is a wonderful plant near the back of the border, working great along walls or fences. Grass - Blue Oat The Grass 'Blue Oat Grass', Helictotrichon sempervirens , is more enduring than blue fescues. The clear blue summer foliage echoes with dwarf blue spruce and blue junipers. The blades are upright and divergent. The handsome flowers resembling one-sided oat panicles appear in June and grow 1-2 feet above the leaves. Great in flowering borders and rock gardens. |
