The Phlox Junior Fountain®, Phlox paniculata 'Junior Fountain®' (PP16,605), has fragrant white flowers on free-branching short stems. It is one the Phlox Junior series that contain mildew resistant plants. Blooming all summer long, it has a plant height of 18-22”. As a definite addition to any perennial garden, it attracts butterflies and provides a mainstay of summer color. Junior Fountain® needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. Astilbe - Montgomery The Astilbe ‘Montgomery’, Astilbe japonica, has wonderful deep red to scarlet-red flowers with dark red-bronze foliage changing to green in the spring. Astilbe ‘Montgomery’ blooms in mid summer and is 20” tall and a plant width of 24”. It is most successfully grown in a shady area but can tolerate some morning sun. A moist, well-drained area is key for this plant. In order to keep Astilbe looking good for the next year, do not cut it back in the winter, (the old foliage helps protect the plant from winter damage), but prune in early spring. Astilbe can be used as cut flowers, perennial borders or shade gardens with Hosta’s and Ferns.
