Snow in Summer
The Cerastium ‘Snow in Summer’, Cerastium tomentosum, is a wonderful bright-white, star shaped flower that blooms from last spring to early summer. The silvery, mat-forming foliage looks great as a ground cover, in rock walls or between stepping-stones. It may have the tendency to spread but has no serious pests and diseases. ‘Snow in Summer’ has a plant height of 4” with a plant spread of 6-12”. This easy to grow perennial requires full sun and will grow in dry to moist soils that are well drained. One should sheer back ‘Snow in Summer’ after flowering to keep it clean and compact and to keep from spreading. Salvia - Sensation Rose The Salvia Sensation Rose, Salvia nemorosa 'Sensation Rose' (PPAF), is loaded with pink flowers that bloom from May to August. It is a sister plant to the great salvia Marcus®. Sensation Rose is a new introduction in 2007 and has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12” and stays in excellent compact form. It should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area. Sensation Rose is a magnet for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds and is deer-resistant.
