Spiderwort - Shimmer Mixed

Great Gardening Stuff perennials

Spiderwort - Shimmer Mixed

The Spiderwort Shimmer Mixed, 'Tradescantia andersoniana', has compact and upright green foliage with large pink, lilac, blue, rose, mauve and occasional white flowers. The flowers open for one day but new blooms appear from June to October. With a plant height of 30” and a spread of 24-36”, it is one that should not be missed. The contrast of the flower color and foliage make it a definite eye catcher. Deadhead after the first flowering to prolong its blooming time. Tradescantia ‘Shimmer Mixed’ should be planted in a sunny area, but they will tolerate some morning shade, with well-drained soil. It will tolerate damp soil but should not be over watered. ‘Shimmer Mixed’ mixes beautifully with wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant and attracts butterflies. Try ‘Shimmer Mixed’ with Geranium ‘Johnson’s Blue’ or Alchemilla ‘Lady’s Mantle’. PPAF. ... details

Grass - Northern Pampas The Grass 'Northern Pampas Grass', Erianthus ravennae, grass is an outstanding plant. The tall flower stalks of this grass stand well above the foliage. Pampas Grass grows the best in sun filled places with somewhat damp ground. An amazing feature about Pampas Grass is that it can live in almost any habitat. The leaves die during frosts in northern climates, but grow back in the spring.
