Xeriscape Extreme
The Xeriscape Extreme flower mix is a collection of extremely adaptable, drought tolerant, hardy and beautiful varieties for the waterwise gardener. The twenty annuals and perennials have a range of bloom times from spring through fall. Their palette of colors range from soft white to bright yellows to cool blues. Xeriscape means water-efficient landscaping. Xeriscape promotes environmentally sound gardening techniques to conserve water and reduce maintenance while producing beautiful landscapes with year-round appeal. Some of the varieties included are Birds Eyes, Blanketflower, Blue Flax, California Poppy, Cosmos Sulphur, African Daisy, Gazania, Mexican Hat, and Phlox Mountain. In cool climates plant in the spring, 1 to 2 weeks before the last average frost date. In mild climates, sow seed during cooler months, generally October through March. Soil should be kept moist while the seeds are germinating and beginning to grow. Be sure to keep the weeds pulled so they do not compete with the flowers for water and sun. This mix covers approximately 65 square feet. ... more
Clary Sage The flowers are pale lilac, 1 inch long tubular blooms, with very prominent rose-red bracts on 2 to 3 foot tall square stems. The Clary Sage blooms in summer through early fall. This Sage is a great plant for dry, rocky soils. Plant this easy-to-grow plant in the spring after the last average frost date. Clary Sage is used for tea, and the fresh or dried leaves are used the same way as sage. |
